Driven by necessity and guided by unwavering discipline, Shri Abhay Bharadwaj established his practice in Rajkot in the year 1980, thus laying the foundation of Abhay Bharadwaj & Associates. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he redefined how a trial court law firm functions. Bringing a paradigm shift in the legal fraternity of Saurashtra, Shri Bharadwaj built the law firm, nurturing and grooming over 250 junior lawyers under him. Many of his juniors today serve as District Judges, Public Prosecutors and Senior Advocates across various High Courts and the Supreme Court of India.

Acknowledging his legal acumen and remarkable record of accomplishments, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Prime Minister nominated Shri Bharadwaj as a member of the 21ˢᵗ Law Commission of India in 2016. The nomination made him the first-ever practicing trial court advocate to receive this distinction. In the year 2018, the National Tribunals Commission appointed Shri Bharadwaj as a member of the “Search-cum-Selection Committee for the appointment of presiding officers of the National Industrial Tribunal” for a two-year term. In 2020, Shri Bharadwaj was elected as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha as a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Gujarat. Though Shri Bharadwaj passed away on 1 December 2020, his vision, values and legal legacy continue to guide the firm today.

Abhay Bharadwaj & Associates, under the leadership of Shri Abhay Bharadwaj, evolved into a full-service law firm. Over the years, Abhay Bharadwaj & Associates became the biggest trial court law firm in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat. Today, the law firm has gradually expanded its footprints across the other regions of Gujarat, making it the first-ever law firm to provide services across the State.
