Late Shri Abhay Ganpatram Bharadwaj
1954 — 2020
Born in Uganda and forced to flee to India, Shri Abhay Bharadwaj joined the legal profession out of necessity and built an empire out of discipline. He began his practice in Rajkot city before the subordinate courts in the year 1980. Over a period of 45 years, he trained more than 250 lawyers who presently serve as District Judges, High Court and Supreme Court advocates and Public Prosecutors across India. Shri Abhay Bharadwaj played a significant role in legal matters, including the Gulbarg Society Massacre pro bono case, Special Public Prosecutor roles, and the Shrikant Madi triple murder case, securing the first death sentence in Saurashtra. He was nominated to the 21st Law Commission in 2016 and was later elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha in 2020. He passed away on 1st December 2020; nevertheless, his legacy continues.

Amruta Bharadwaj
Co-Managing Partner
A seasoned advocate of the Gujarat High Court, Amruta Bharadwaj has over ten years of litigation experience representing clients before the Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat. She earned her five-year integrated Bachelor of Laws degree from Saurashtra University in 2013.
Since joining Abhay Bharadwaj & Associates in November 2013, Amruta has built extensive legal expertise across civil and criminal laws, the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Banking Regulation Act, the SARFAESI Act, and Intellectual Property Rights. Blending deep legal knowledge, from banking and IP law to complex criminal litigation, she brings exceptional analytical acumen, keen observational capacity, and strong people management skills to her practice, complemented by her fluency in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
In the year 2026, Amruta was elected as a Member of the Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG) - a statutory representative body of over 1.40 Lakh advocates in Gujarat. Upon being elected as Member of the BCG, Amruta become the youngest female advocate in the history of the BCG and the first woman Advocate from the Saurashtra region to achieve the feat.
